Questions about playing

Can you explain how a turn works with the 5 options?

Of course, each turn you have 5 gameplay options you can use.  You can pay to move around, you can buy and sell cards to the deck, you can trade cards with other players, you can mug other players and lastly, you can discard guilt cards.

You can make use of any number of these options during your turn but when you discard any guilt cards at a location your turn is ended.  It remains your turn until you discard guilt, lose a fight mugging someone or choose to end it so keep some money on hand to move around and get several things done each turn.

What is a full alibi and what does it mean?

A Full Alibi for any one of your alibi story locations proves at the Trial that what you said you were doing is the truth.  You can get a full alibi either with a pair of alibi cards matching the location or by bribing a witness who then becomes a full alibi for any place in your story that you choose.

What does a witness card mean?

At each location in town there is a towns person character.  For each towns person there are three guilt cards.  Friend, Witness and Motive.  When you hold a witness card that towns person is going to tell police that they believe you are the killer.  Why?  That's for you to try and explain at the Trial if you haven't Bribed or Murdered them by then.

Can I use more than one weapon at a time?

Sadly, no.  While a player with both guns wants nothing more than one in each hand you can only use one weapon during any given fight.

If someone tries to mug me but they lose, can I mug them instead?

When a mugging goes badly for an attacker it ends their turn.  The winning defender does not get to mug the attacker but does have the option of stealing the weapon being used against them.  At the start of their next turn the defender can then choose to start by trying to mug their would be attacker back with their own weapon.

If I have more than one type of guilt card at one place can I get rid of it in one go?

Yes you can.  When visiting a location you could bribe or murder a witness, then discard a weapon and lastly clean away some evidence.  The only rule is that any discarding of guilt ends your turn.  You cannot trade, buy or sell cards after discarding guilt cards.

Do I need to have a weapon to kill a witness?

No.  You can fight a witness or another player with your bare hands which is the roll of one die.  If a player kills a witness with no weapon then "bare hands" should be noted as the murder weapon on the Witness Notepad.

Can I use guilt cards to support my case at the trial?

Yes.  If you have evidence which ties you to a place that is part of your alibi story then it shows that you must have visited that place.  Of course you might have to explain why it is your blood left there...

I don't understand the Truth cards.  Can we figure out who the true killer is?

While one player is the true killer it is not the goal of the game to figure out who.  The killer card is not really a gameplay element but simply brings in an often humorous final point to the game when one player has been convicted and you find out who was really guilty.

Can you explain the connection between friends and motives?

Motives are the emotional reasons you have to want to kill or maim one of the town's people or the original murder victim.  As long as the person who the motive is for remains alive it is no big deal but if they are killed today and you wanted to kill them....

Friends on the other hand are town's people who you are close with and therefore would not want to kill.  Friends also function as a more general opposition against any motives you hold as being friends they will support you at the Trial.
